In my never-ending saga of finding Singapore steakhouses to try, Hilton’s Opus Bar & Grill recently made their lunch menu (12pm – 5pm) available to-go. Voted as one of TripAdvisor’s Top 10 Steakhouses in Singapore, I ordered to see if Opus Bar & Grill lives up to its title.
Tip: from now till 13 June, there is a 25% discount on self pick up orders from the lunch menu.
My family and I ordered the Signature 1kg Black Angus Bone-in Rib Eye (Hilton25) ($171.20) to share. The USA beef is specially dry-aged in Opus Bar & Grill’s Himalayan salt-tiled dry-ageing cabinet.
The beef is tender enough that the knife slices through with ease, albeit the beef tendons being a little hard to chew off. The dry-aged beef has a slight smokiness and maintains its doneness to be medium rare even after bringing it back home. My only complaint will be that steak’s flavour is more muted than other beef in steakhouses.
It also comes with two complimentary sauces which we choose: Armagnac green peppercorn and Black truffle & wild mushroom. Personally, I would skip ordering the Armagnac green peppercorn sauce as it has a sour-bitter taste with a slightly sticky texture.
The Truffle fries (Hilton25) ($10.70) is crispy and fried golden brown. However, there was only a small amount of truffle given, and its taste was subdued.
Although the Grilled Fat Green Asparagus (Hilton25) ($10.70) has a small portion, the asparagus is aromatic with garlic and well cooked to the balance of soft and firm.
Overall, I give Opus Bar & Grill the following rating:
